About Us

About Us

Bulimba Festival has been reinvented for 2015. This year it will run for a week commencing Monday November 9 until Sunday November 15. During the course of the week we will showcase the many different aspects of life in Bulimba that draws people from all over the world to call this bend in the river “home”.
There will be a series of events that make up the Bulimba Festival from movie nights, to pet parades, to fun runs through to our headline event Lunch on the Lawn.
Lunch on the Lawn will open at 10am on Sunday 15 November and will incorporate the traditional street market that has always proved so popular running down Stuart and Godwin Streets with an increased focus on fine food and wine in Memorial Park. Adults can enjoy a family friendly licensed area to pull up a picnic rug, relax and listen to some of Brisbane’s most exciting bands curated by The Triffid from the shade of the heritage listed fig trees.
Children will be well catered for with plenty of activities to keep them entertained or just let them run wild in the beautiful park.

We need YOU!

This festival has been brought to you by a passionate team of volunteers who have pulled together am amazing line up of events that we hope you will enjoy. We URGENTLY need more volunteers to help us ensure the smooth running of events over the week. If you can help, please get in touch here ASAP!

Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane

This year Bulimba Festival is supporting the Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane (MYAHCB). The centre opened in March 2015 and provides quality care for adolescents and young adults aged 16 to 25 living with chronic and complex health conditions.

The Centre combines existing services with new, dedicated specialised services and environments addressing the emotional, social and educational needs of young people.

MYAHCB cares for adolescents and young adults living with a range of chronic and complex health conditions such as diabetes, cystic fibrosis and inflammatory bowel disease.

The newly opened centre now operates outpatient clinics, an inpatient ward, a dedicated Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Service (ADAWS) and emotional health unit consults.

MYAHCB offers a holistic emotional and educational approach and provides an important role in helping patients transition from receiving paediatric health care services as children to more age-appropriate health services.

Designed in consultation with a range of healthcare professionals and with input from Mater’s very own Youth Consultancy consumer group comprised of adolescents and young adults, MYAHCB is providing a new kind of support and care which has been missing from the healthcare system.

The first dedicated service of its type for young adults in Australia, MYAHCB is working to establish ground-breaking new systems and models of care that will change the lives of adolescents and young adults both in Queensland and across Australia.

I Can I Will

ICANIWILL is changing the lives of children with special needs by bridging the social gap with the younger generation by making CHARITY COOL and FUN.

We successfully influence senior school students to become a Junior Mentor to a child with special needs on a daily basis to bridge the social gap forever. Our support is provided for no charge to ensure every family can afford to give their child the opportunity to benefit from ICANIWILL.

ICANIWILL is now one of Australia’s fastest growing charities. With $0 government funding we need your assistance to help cover the $5,000 it costs per school to help the children in need.
